This infographic sets out a number of key statistics relating to patient knowledge and understanding of what they have discussed with doctor, highlighting the importance of health literacy and how health professionals communicate with their patients. 

It includes statistics such as 50% of patients walk out of a doctor's office not knowing what they were told or what they are supposed to do, and that research shows that doctors often overestimate the topics and duration of what they have talked about with their patients.
