This blog sets out from a clinician perspective what shared decision making involves and what is needed to embed it practice.

Dominc argues that wider implementation of shared decision making requires a change in doctor training, so they see their relationship with patients as a partnership, they have better communication skills, and are more comfortable communicating uncertainty. He also argues that the use of new technologies can support shared decision making.
