Teams working on the Health Foundation's MAGIC programme designed workshops to help health professionals develop the skills and techniques for effective shared decision making. Materials to support the programme include overheads, handouts and pre and post-training self assessment.
Supporting people to make informed decisions about their health and care: learning from the MAGIC programme
In October 2013, the Health Foundation hosted a national event to share the practical learning about how teams from its MAGIC programme have embedded shared decision making across the health systems they work in.
Created by the Newcastle and Cardiff teams as part of the Health Foundation’s MAGIC programme, this series of overheads can be presented to explain the general concept of Shared Decision Making and some of the key skills needed and tools that support its implementation.
